Product Vision:

**23. What is your project? **
Rade - A platform for finding and trading video games with gamers around the world. It’s up and running on https://rade.trade

**24. What is the problem you will solve? **
The global gaming community faces 3 main problems regarding video game trading:

  1. Difficulty finding people to trade specific games with.
  2. Difficulty identifying trustworthy people to trade with.
  3. Difficulty coming to a quick agreement on terms of trade.

**25. What are your goals? **
The aim of this project is to build a web platform to solve the above problems. This would be achieved by fulfilling the following objectives:

  1. Implementing a system that matches gamers based on the games they have in common and their geographical distance from each other.

  2. Implementing a system that assigns a trust score to each user based on the number of trades done in the past.

  3. Implementing a website that is user-friendly and succinctly lists terms and conditions of each trade.

  4. Implementing a chat system to allow users to communicate with each other.

  5. Implementing a system that prevents users with a low internet trust score from accessing the platform.

Currently I’ve achieved objectives 1, 3, and 5.

**26. What impact will this project have on the Akash developer community? **

Rade could serve as a poster child of what is achievable with the Akash platform.

**27. Who will use your project when it’s complete? **
PC and Console gamers around the world

**28. Will you monetize your project? How? **
There’s a monthly subscription that removes a few limitations from the free service.

**29. Will you open source your project? **
The source code for the NodeJS back-end and the ReactJS front-end is available on Gitlab and Github. Some micro services of the Rade codebase haven’t been made opensource, but are trivial to do so.

Product Leadership / Drive:

**30. Briefly tell us about yourself, your passion, your values **
You can expand my profile summary

**31. What’s your aspiration for blockchain technology? **
I want to see more physical analogs of digital entities. For example NFTs that have physical counterparts and digital currencies that transact as reliably and as quickly as taking some cash out of your wallet and giving it to the cashier.

**32. If you had $1 million in grant funding what would you do? **
I would hire a team to move the entire project to the blockchain, then form a DAO to make decisions on the future prospects of Rade.

**33. Who will benefit most from your project? **

**34. How will you help grow the Akash community? **

  1. All Rade’s code will be open-source, including various YML configuration files for deploying to the Akash platform, it could help serve as a reference to future developers

  2. “Powered by Akash” would be shown prominently on the landing page of Rade, this could turn potential Rade customers to potential Akash users, as gamers are one the most technically adept demographics on the internet.

  3. All Rade’s services would be hosted using Akash. Having a reliable production-ready platform hosted on Akash would convince developers on the fence between choosing Akash, and other competition like Flux.

**35. How will you make Akash approachable to developers? **
See above

36. How do you think Akash should improve?

  1. More tutorials on converting Docker/Kubernetes configurations to Akash deployment configurations.
  2. Showcasing more non-blockchain based platforms running on Akash.

Product Execution:

**37. How would you utilize the grant funding? **
Currently only Rade’s database (Dgraph) is hosted with Akash, the database is a single instance without any failover and replication capabilities. I need to upgrade the current single instance to a more production-ready cluster of at least 3 nodes. This would cost at least 5x the current monthly expenses.

Next I would want to move all Rade’s services to Akash:

  1. GraphQL API service
  2. Game export service
  3. Authentication/Authorization service
  4. Front-end service
  5. Subscription payment service

I would lastly need to pay for my living expenses during this two month period, since I would have to scale down my current freelance work.

**38. Have you already started this work? **
I’ve been working on this project on and off for the past 3 years. But I had to shut it down due to expenses, I’ve not been able to advance the projects goals due to time and monetary expenses from running the servers and marketing campaigns.
It’s accessible at https://rade.trade

**39. Do you have a GitHub or website for your project? **
Frontend: GitHub - scroobius-pip/ProjectKebab-GameList: Frontend for rade.trade
Api Service: scroobius-pip / project-kebab-apiServer · GitLab

**40. How will this task be accomplished? **
Don’t understand this question

**41. How would you break this work up into 3 or 4 milestones? **

  1. Database upgrade and backups to IPFS
  2. API service and game exporter service migration to Akash
  3. Authentication, subscription payments service and front-end migration to Akash

**42. How many months of work will this project require? **
2 months

**43. What’s the expected amount of funding required for your project? **
10,000 USD

Product Progress:

**44. Will you open source your project? **
Most of the code is already open source, it will be fully open source.

**45. How do you plan to share your work with the community once complete? **
Through Rade’s Discord, Twitter. Akash’s discord and any other recommended channels.

**46. Will you report your progress to the community every month? **
Yes if necessary

**47. Do you have any screenshots, videos, or other context you can share? **

Developer Associations:

**48. Are you associated with any accelerators, incubators, venture capital firms, or startup funds? **
**49. Are you associated with any startup communities? **
**50. Are you associated with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)? **
**51. Are you associated with any open source projects? **
**52. Are you associated with any of the Akash Network core team members? **

53. Are you a resident of, citizen, or located in a geographic area that is subject to UN, US, EU, Swiss or any other sovereign country sanctions or embargoes?
54. Are you over the age of 18?

Hi, this looks interesting. Are you able to present/demo to the CAB at the next CAB meeting in February?

Definitely, although anyone can register to have a first hand experience.

Are you able to present this to the CAB at the next CAB meeting in February?

@simdi-jinkins What’s your ask for this project i.e. grant amount?

10,000 USD in AKT

@simdi-jinkins Thanks. I will get this in the pipeline for the next CAB meeting in February. You will have 10 - 12 minutes to present and make your ask. In the interim, please share any high level milestones, timeline and Akash deployment plans so I can socialize with the CAB in preparation.

Alright will do

The milestones can be split up into:

  1. Service upgrades and reliability improvements
  2. Service migrations to Akash

These two milestones would take about 2.5 months to achieve and can be further split up into:
Service Upgrades and Reliability Improvements
1a. Database cluster upgrade to 3 nodes (this would improve the failure resistance of the service)
1b. Setting up database backups to IPFS via file base
1c. Public documentation of the above process.

Service migrations to Akash
2a. Migration of all services to Akash, i.e. GraphQL API service, authentication, subscription payments processing service, Nextjs frontend service, game exporting service.
2b. Public documentation of the above process.

For the CAB presentation, two tips:

  1. Spend 5 - 8 minutes on the demo - high level
  2. 5 Minutes - Q & A

Hey, so you’ve been working for 3 years on your project, how is this proposal going to help make that project come to fruition? Have you had any results of people actually using your product?

I’ve worked on it since 3 years, but Rade’s not been up for that amount of time, I had to shut down the service because of the funds required to run it. I restarted the project this year, because with Akash it could become a lot cheaper to run.

There’s still a lot of work to do, especially with marketing and a few features that I’ve realized are necessary (although that’s not the purpose of this particular grant application)

So far there are 30 users registered (no marketing, just friends I’ve asked to test it out). But current competition like game trading subreddits easily have 200k+ members.

Ok thanks for the info!

@AlaniAKT since the grant application for 10k didn’t work out, is there a chance of getting it approved for a lower ask ? Or is it a definite no in any case ?
